What is the procedure before the operation?

Please do not take aspirin for two weeks before surgery. Do not drink alcohol, tea or coffee on the day of surgery - it is better just to drink water. It is recommended that you do not eat for 6 hours before surgery. If you are having only a local then you can have a very light meal for example a yogurt 4 hours before. Please take a snack with you so that when its safe to eat you can eg biscuits , healthy bar etc.

Please seek independent medical advice before undergoing surgery. It is important that you inform the surgeron of any medical problems that you have that could cause problems before surgery. For example drugs you are on that may cause more bleeding, heart attacks or diabetics.

How clean is the clinic?

The 'Adam Kalecinski Clinic' is modern, clean and hygienic. No MRSA has ever been present.

Where do I stay?

The first night post procedure, you will stay in the clinic, if appropriate, where the friendly staff are available to look after you.  After this we can book you into a hotel.  Most people stay at Hotel Premium http://www.zlotehotele.pl/system_premium_hotel_wroclaw/eng/  which is in walking distance of the clinic.   Rooms are from £35 a night when you book with the booking.com company below. There are larger rooms for a higher price. Different websites have cheaper prices depending on who has offers for this hotel; this website is sometimes cheaper. http://www.booking.com/hotel/pl/hspremiumwroclaw.en.html or expedia.co.uk or http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274812-d601290-Reviews-Hotel_System_Premium_Wroclaw-Wroclaw_Western_Poland.html

If you would prefer to book your own hotel   www.wroclaw-online.eu   also has information on hotels and the city. The Dom Snookera guest house is about 1 mile from the clinic and can be booked on the www.booking.com website. This can be cheaper than the System Premium Hotel and is another place to stay if the hotel is fully booked. The clinic address is  ul Dlugosza 4 which is in the north east part of the city. For those on a budget a very cheap option is the Cinnamon Hostel. It has private rooms but is in the city centre 15 mins taxi from the clinic http://www.wroclaw-online.eu/84,cinnamon_hostel-hostel.php There is also this self catering appartment very near the clinic. http://www.noce.pl/SR/szczegoly.php?ido=870&lang=en&utm_source=google&utm_medium=kml and this one is really near too http://www.apartament-abba.com/startgb.htm on ul. Dlugosza 19/33 - the same road as the clinic.

The choice of hotel is totally up to you, everyone has their own budget.  Please make sure you do book somewhere as Wroclaw is a popular city and the hotels get full very quickly.

Will my operation be under a local or a general?

It depends on the procedure. Where possible procedures are carried out with you awake as it is safer for you. However the surgeon can give you a mild sedative to make you feel more relaxed during the procedure. Some operations it is necessary for you to be asleep, there is no extra charge for this it is all included in the price.

Can I cancel my operation?

Please send us an email if you have to cancel your operation. You can cancel your operation up to a week before for any reason, with a full refund. However patients who have booked with us and don't inform us of their cancellation will be charged £285 pounds as we will have prepared and hygienically cleaned the operating theatre and late cancellation will have prevented someone else from having surgery.

What is the money in Poland?

The  Polish money is  Zloty not Euro's . You pay the surgeon in British pounds ( if you come from Scotland or Northern Ireland we have had problems with the banks in Poland accepting theses British notes - really sorry!)

What is the advantage of going to this clinic?

You will receive professional, friendly, medical care with surgery carried out by a highly experienced, skilled and qualified surgeon.  All the surgery is performed by doctor Adam Kalecinski, unlike other clinics where a junior doctor might do some of your surgery. The surgery is affordably priced and conducted in a modern, hygienic clinic. After treatment you can enjoy a short holiday in Poland, away from prying eyes, so you can recover before your return home.

Is there medical finance?

Sometimes the thought of spending thousands of pounds in one go can be daunting, and even the attainment of that money can be a slow and difficult process.

Whatever treatment you need to finance, they can make the application as quick and easy as possible. The best rates for loans we found are  abbey at 7.9% apr for loans from £1000 tel   08706092430 http://www.abbey.com . Unfortunately the surgeon can only except cash or bank transfer to his HSBC English bank account. You can't use a credit card to pay the surgeon.  However some credit card companies will allow to some customers 0% on balance transfers e.g MBNA will allow you to transfer money to your bank account from your card, then you can pay the surgeon with cash out of your bank account.

Travel insurance for people traveling for medical reasons is available from this company. http://www.secure-travelinsurance.co.uk/b2c/index.aspx?id=79-558C744816B5C4B4491B60197B873109&cid=160 However, most people just make sure their European health insurance card (the old E1 11) is up to date, which you can do on line.

Can I speak directly to the surgeon before I book the surgery?

Yes, a telephone consultation can be arranged to speak to Dr Kalecinski in person. Please take his mobile number with you and if you have any problems at all in Poland don't hesitate to call him.
