Rhytidectomy (Facelifting)
OVERVIEW OF THE PROCEDURE
The face-lift procedure is carried out to restore a more youthful and rested appearance by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles and repositioning the skin of the face and neck. The procedure can be done separately or in conjunction with eyelid surgery. A facelift is performed to improve the appearance of facial skin making it look younger, with the most spectacular results being visible on the neck and cheeks. It does not remove all fine facial wrinkles. For fine line reduction eg. those around the mouth or eyes, other techniques are used such as: deep peels (EXODERM,WEEKEND-PEEL) or smoothing the skin texture with the injection of substances (AQUAMID, botulinum injection). The incisions are made in the natural creases of the skin in the frontal part of the ear and up in the direction of the temples, and behind the ear in the hairline. The procedure can be performed with local or general anaesthesia. Long hospitalisation is not required.
The results are lasting, natural looking and without the over tightened effect. The most significant improvement is usually seen in the jowls, lower face and neck, whilst plumpness is restored in the cheeks. A brow lift can also be performed at the same time to raise the brows and reduce forehead wrinkles.

HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO STAY IN THE CLINIC ?
Stitches in front of the ears are removed within 3-4 days after the surgical treatment. Other dissolvable stitches remain for two weeks. Hair can be washed 5 days after the procedure.
RECOVERY TIME
Normal social activity is possible 14-16 days after the surgery. The post-surgical scars are hardly noticeable. They are either hidden by your hair, or those in front of the ear are concealed in the typical skin crease in this area. In total a minimum 6 nights in Poland are required.

Step 1 – Anesthesia
Medication is administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
A variety of other procedures can further enhance the outcome of a facelift. They include:
· Facial implants
· Soft tissue augmentation to recontour the facial structure
· Resurfacing techniques to improve the tone and texture of facial skin
· Wrinkle reduction by injection
Step 2 – The incision
Depending on the degree of change you would like to see, your facelift choices are as follows:
a.) Traditional Facelift - A traditional facelift incision often begins in the hairline at the temples, continues around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat may be sculpted or redistributed from the face, jowls and neck, and underlying tissue is repositioned. Commonly the deeper layers of the face and the muscles are also lifted. Skin is redraped over the uplifted contours and excess skin is trimmed away. A second incision under the chin may be necessary to further improve an aging neck. Sutures or skin adhesives close the incisions.
b.) Limited Incision Facelift / Upper Facelift - An alternative to a traditional facelift which uses shorter incisions at the temples, continuing around the ear and possibly within the lower eyelids or under the upper lip.
c.) Necklift - now only performed as part of a full facelift. In the past the neck lift was a separate procedure but current medical guildlines recommend that cosmetic surgeons only do the neck lift as part of the full face. This is because the skin around the ears does not sit correctly after a neck lift in isolation and this would result in unevenness around the ear area. Now that it is done as part of the full face lift, this no longer occurs. Sagging jowls, loose neck skin and fat accumulation under the chin may be corrected with a necklift. The necklift incision often begins in front of the ear lobe and wraps around behind the ear ending in the lower scalp.
Step 3 – Closing the incisions
Once healed, the incision lines from a facelift are well concealed within the hairline and in the natural contours of the face and ear.
Step 4 – See the results
The visible improvements of a facelift appear as the initial swelling and bruising subside. Your final result should not only restore a more youthful and rested appearance, but also help you to feel more confident about yourself.
Brow-lift / Forehead-lift

Step 1 - Anaesthesia
Medication is administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
Step 2 - The incision
A brow lift may sometimes be performed using an endoscope (surgical video device) and special instruments placed through small incisions made within the hairline. This allows the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to be repositioned, altered or removed, correcting the source of visible creases and furrows in the forehead. Correction of a low-positioned or sagging brow may be made with or without the use of an endoscope through incisions at the temples and in the scalp.
This technique may be done in conjunction with incisions hidden within the natural crease of the upper eyelids to eliminate frown lines between the brows, on or above the bridge of the nose.

An alternative brow lift technique is the coronal brow lift. The coronal brow lift can pinpoint specific regions of the brow to correct. This technique involves an incision from ear to ear, lifting the forehead and removing excess skin from the scalp. Recovery time is often longer than the endoscopic brow lift due to the size of the incision.
The incision lines from a brow lift are well concealed within the hair or natural contours of the face unless they are placed at the hairline to shorten the forehead. Results appear gradually as initial swelling and bruising subside to reveal smoother forehead skin and a more youthful, restful appearance.
Step 3 - Closing the incisions
Brow lift incisions typically are closed with:
· Removable or absorbable sutures
· Skin adhesives
· Surgical tape
· Special clips
Step 4 - See the results
Brow elevation may be maintained by the use of:
· Permanent sutures
· Small surgical screws
· Absorbable fixation device placed inconspicuously at the temples
Browlift via Eyes
This a new procedure for people which have a line between their eyebrows or wish their eyebrows to be higher. The surgeon makes an incision in the upper eye lids and through to release the tension in the muscles in the forehead. The skin on the eyes is very good at healing and minimal scarring is the advange of this new procedure.
Blepharoplasty (Eye Bags)

OVERVIEW OF THE PROCEDURE
Eyelid surgery is performed to remove some upper eye over-hanging skin or under-eye bags. It also corrects fine lines around the eyes, and any excess fat and muscle. Patients often choose to have both procedures done at the same time. The procedure gives the eyes a more youthful, alert appearance. As you get older, it is common to develop under-eye bags and heavy, hooded eyelids that make you look tired all the time. Nothing ages you faster than tired eyes. The skin around the eyes is especially thin, and becomes thinner and looser as we age.

During the procedure the surgeon usually administers local anaesthesia, often under the supervision of the anaesthetist. Incisions are made in natural skin creases. The surgeon then takes away the loose skin and fatty tissue to leave a smoother eyelid. With a lower blepharoplasty, an incision is made just below the lower eyelash and the surgeon removes excess skin and fat.
RECOVERY TIME
It typically takes 10 days for the bruising to come down. Patients can return to work after this period. The scars left by upper blepharoplasty are hidden in the natural crease of your eye. A lower blepharoplasty leaves pale pink scars which are hidden by the lashes and fade. Your length of stay in Poland is dependant on whether you have stitches removed at home or in Poland as follows: 2 nights stay if removal at home; 6 nights stay if they are removed by our surgeon in Poland.
Otoplasty (Ear surgery)

WHAT IS OTOPLASTY ?
Otoplasty is a common surgical procedure performed to correct the appearance of the ear. The usual reason for visiting a cosmetic surgeon for otoplasty is to correct protruding ears. Otoplasty is performed by making incisions in the back of the ears to expose the ear cartilage. Some cartilage is remodelled and the ear repositioned. The scars remaining behind the ears are hardly noticeable.

PROCEDURE TIME
Surgery is usually performed with local anaesthesia. The procedure is completely painless and is completed within about an hour.
POSTOPERATIVE CARE TIME
Two nights in Poland are required.
Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

OVERVIEW OF THE PROCEDURE
While the shape of your nose is usually the result of heredity, the appearance may have been altered in an injury or during prior surgery. Also known as rhinoplasty, surgery of the nose improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, enhancing facial harmony and self confidence. Surgery of the nose may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose.
Average nose size:
Medical charts show that for a man of 30, the normal nose length is 5.8cm and should stick out no more than 2.6cm. For a woman of the same age, the average length is 5.1cm with 2.2cm sticking out.

WHAT CAN SURGERY OF THE NOSE ACCOMPLISH?
Rhinoplasty can change:
· Nose size, in relation to the other facial structures
· Nose width, at the bridge
· Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
· Nasal tip, that is large or bulbous, drooping, or too upturned
· Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
· Nasal asymmetry and deviation

IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
Nose surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image. Surgery of the nose is a good option for you if:
· Your facial growth is complete and you are 13 years of age or older
· You are physically healthy
Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems. Rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence.
Cosmetic nasal surgery is performed in cases of innate or acquired deformations of the nasal bone or cartilage. Sometimes the procedure may involve surgery on just the soft part of the nose (cartilaginous tissue). In other cases more extensive correction is required (covering both cartilage and bone). Most procedures allow for incisions located in the nostrils - this technically eliminates the risk of any visible postoperative scars. Correction of certain deformations, however, requires incisions of the columnella, or at the margin between the wings of the nostrils and the cheek. The surgery, depending upon its extent, may be performed under local, intravenous or general (intratracheal) anaesthesia.
PROCEDURE TIME
The surgery is usually completed within two hours, depending upon the character and complication of the procedure.
POSTOPERATIVE CARE TIME
After the surgery the nose is covered with a stiff dressing immobilising the bone. The dressing remains on the nose for about a week. Usually gauze "packing" of the nostrils is not required. After the surgery the patient remains in the recovery room for about an hour, leaving the hospital on the same day.
RECOVERY TIME
For the first 24-48 hours any excess effort should be avoided, and patients are recommended to stay mostly in a sitting or lying position, head up. During that time cold compresses should be applied around the base of nose and the eyes. This reduces the postoperative swelling and bruising, which is dramatically reduced within the first few days. Skin bruising around the eyes may be still visible for about two weeks, depending on the individual patient's predisposition. Resuming normal activities is possible within 1-2 weeks. Four nights in Poland are required.
